On the 26th of April, at the Army House in Skopje, there was an annual meeting with the members of the functional group for Communication and Information Systems (CIS), including Chiefs of General Staff of the member countries of the US Adriatic Charter A-5, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, as well as representatives of the United States European Command (USEUCOM). This meeting is part of the scheduled activities of the US Adriatic Charter A-5.
At the meeting, the participants exchanged experiences, lessons learned, and best practices in using basic network services by the units deployed in peace support missions, as well as their experience in implementation of NATO functional services.
Prominent topics during the discussion were about cyber risks, cyber threats, and counter measures necessary to be implemented in order to prevent cyber-attacks. Experiences from previous cyber-attacks were exchanged so as to be used as lessons learned which would point out to a better way to tighten the cyber security.
All participants pinpointed training on raising the awareness of cyber threats as the most important segment of data and critical infrastructure security system.
All participants endorsed the conclusion to continue the established successful cooperation in Communication and Information Systems (CIS), and cyber-defense through exchange of knowledge, lessons learned, experiences, and the best practices among the armies of the member countries of the US Adriatic Charter A-5 and USEUCOM.
Earlier, military security and logistics sections had meetings about cyber security as part of the conference preparations.
