ARMY MISSION
As an armed force of the Republic, it is being organized, trained and prepared to conduct armed combat, military and other actions to achieve its constitutional role and function of defence of the Republic, as well as protection of the territorial integrity and independence, fullfils all national and international commitments, contributes to the global security systems, international missions and protection of wider national interests.
GENERAL STAFF MISSION
GS of the Army performs operational and professional work in planning, organizing, preparing and commanding the Army as a whole or its parts, while achieving the objectives derived from the mission of the Army.
ARMY GENERAL STAFF TASKS
- Plans the Army organization and formation:
- Proposes organization and formation of the Army;
- Defines military needs and priorities for force planning, analyses the links between military needs and available resources, and advises on matters relating to NATO standardization;
- Promotion and development of the personnel management, intelligence and counter-intelligence, security and protection of the forces, organization, prepares and performs operational capabilities and combat readiness, logistic support, training, financial support and civilian-military cooperation;
- Prepares and implements rules and guidelines for the Army units utilization, its internal structure, the Army rules of engagement and other army rules and regulations;
- Prepares draft plans for new equipment and modernization of the Army.
- Plans the Army utilization:
- Conducts analysis and proposes documents for the Army utilization;
- Coordinates and checks the plans of the subordinate commands;
- Prepares measures, activities and procedures for improving the level of the combat readiness according to the current security level ;
- Plans measures, activities and procedures to support the forces of MI in removal of asymmetric threats;
- Organises activities and procedures to support the central and local government in case of natural disasters;
- Operational utilization of the Army and its components, approved by the Supreme Commander and the Parliament of the Republic;
- Organises and performs surveillance, control and security of the airspace sovereignty of the Republic;
- Organizes preparations and conduction of the Army mobilization
- Prepares mobilization assessment;
- Prepares a proposal for the mobilization development of the Army;
- Prepares a plan for the mobilization of the Army;
- Performs mobilization of the Army or its component.
- Organises and monitors the implementation of measures for the Army readiness and measures for their execution,
- Monitors and controls the combat readiness of the Army commands and units and takes measures for its improvement.
- Plans and conducts the Army training activities and military exercises:
- Plans, organises and monitors the combat readiness training level of the Army commands and units, as well as the level of the combat readiness of the whole Army;
- Coordinates the training for the Army declared units in multinational operations and missions of peacekeeping and combating terrorism;
- Coordinates the training projects and exercises with NATO and other coalition partners;
- Prepares plans for the Army exercises and training activities.
- Plans and conducts the Army personnel management:
- Plans, organises and conducts training and individual proffessional development of all Army service personnel;
- Plans new appointments and reassignments of the Army key personnel;
- Organises administrative support for the Army personnel management.
- Intelligence, counter-intelligence and protection of the Army:
- Organises Army intelligence and counter-intelligence activities coordinated with correlated institutions and organisations of the Republic;
- Plans ans participates in organization of preventive measures for asymmetric threats to the defence of the Republic;
- Coordinates and participates in securing personnel, commands and important defence facilities, as well as plans the regulation and control of military traffic;
- Plans measures, activities for discovery and prevention of criminal activiies in the Army.
- Logistic Support in the Army:
- Plans and controls the conduct of logistic support in the Army;
- Plans the supply, maintenance, movement and transport, medical support, infrastructure and services;
- Makes assessment of the supply conditions of all types of materials and measures for maintaining the level of supplies in the Army;
- Organises the activities for maintenance of the resources;
- Organises the health care system for the Army service personnel;
- Plans and organises Army transportation needs;
- Plans Army accommodation capacity, maintenance, provides services, storage facilities and other infrastructure.
- Organises and prepares CIS:
- Plans and develops systems for support and management of information;
- Frequency management for the needs of the Army;
- Prepares plans for communication support for the command and control of the armed forces;
- Plans, coordinates and regulates the cryptography procedures and means in the Army.
- Plans the financial means for the needs of the Army:
- Prepares and participates in the development of the financial plans for the needs of the Army;
- Implements the approved financial plans for the needs of the Army.
- Civil-military co-operation:
- Plans, organises and prepares the cooperation between the governmental institutions and civilian organizations home and abroad.
