The ARM Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, at the invitation of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Christopher Cavoli, attended the ceremony for the change of command of NATO’s Supreme Allied Command Europe.
The ceremony was held at the NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Kingdom of Belgium, where the outgoing Commander General Cavoli handed over the command to General Alexus Grynkewich.
General Grynkewich is the twenty-first Commander of SACEUR, and assumes command from the position of Director of Operations in the J-3 Section of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.
The first appointed commander of this command was General Dwight Eisenhower, who later became the 34th President of the United States.
