Colonel Biljana Blazheska
Colonel Biljana Blazheska was born in 1972 in Kranj, Republic of Slovenia. She has been in the service of the Army since 2001, after completing the Officer Course for Army Services. She continued her military education with postgraduate studies for Command and Staff Duties at the Military Academy – Skopje in 2013 and the NATO Defence College in Rome, Italy in 2022.
She began her career as a Lieutenant, Platoon Commander at the Logistics Training Centre in the barracks “Gjorche Petrov”, Skopje. In 2004 she was promoted to the rank Captain and appointed a Commander of a Quartermaster Company for Training in the barracks in Veles. Since 2006, she continued her career as a staff officer in the field of logistics and she was involved in projects for the development and improvement of the Army equipment, uniforms and insignia, as well as in projects for Army modernization. For five years, she was a Chief of the Supply Department in the Logistics Support Brigade, Skopje, for procurement of class 1 and class 2 materials.
She has been holding the position of Aide-de-camp to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army since August 2019. As a senior military representative in the Cabinet of the President, in addition to planning, organizing and implementing protocol and ceremonial state activities, official and working visits, she was actively involved in advising the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army on military and security issues, decisions making process at a strategic level related to the security sector, as well as in the preparation, organization and carrying out the meetings of the Security Council. She has been part of the working committee established for professional support of the Council for Coordination of the NATO membership related activities.
During her career, she has been actively involved in the processes of promoting and developing the principles of equal opportunities for women and men, gender equality in the Ministry of Defence and the Army, for which she was invited to be a lecturer at the NATO Defence College in Rome in September 2022.
During her professional development she has completed numerous courses and trainings, participated in forums, symposiums and conferences in the country and abroad, including: participation at the Annual Conferences of the NATO Defense College in Rome, 2023 and 2024; participation at the NATO Symposium on Nuclear Policy in Skopje, 2024; participation at the Halifax International Security Forum, Canada in 2021 through the program Peace With Women Fellowship 2021 in the USA and Canada; courses on logistics planning and the military decision-making process at the NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany; NATO/Partner Logistics Operations Course at the International Defence Centre, Finland; Defence Resource Management Course in Monterey, California and more defence acquisition management courses. As a certified assessor for self-assessment and NATO assessment level 1 and 2 of the declared units of the Army, she has participated in self-assessments and NATO assessments of the Army units, as an assessor, a team leader, a deputy director and director of an assessment team, during the exercises “Macedonian Flash”. She has also participated in several exercises in the country and abroad.
During her career, she took part in the Resolute Support mission, in the Train Advice Assist Command – Capital – Kabul (TAAC – Capital), Afghanistan, from June 2018 to January 2019.
Colonel Biljana Blazheska has received awards and decorations from the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army for the achieved results and her contribution to the Army advancement. She is proficient in English and French. She is married and a mother of two children.
