The Chief of GS of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski had an official visit of the Republic of Albania. Today, he had meetings on the highest military level at the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Albania.
Following the high military honors welcome, Lieutenant General Velichkovski had a meeting with the Chief of GS of the Albanian Armed Forces, Brigadier Bardhyl Kollchaku, including a meeting with the representatives of GS of Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania.
At the meeting among the Chiefs of General Staffs, several points were discussed including the improvement of the current bilateral military cooperation in the area of training and military education. They also discussed the possibilities for new ways of cooperation by joint activities, exchange of experience and use of army capacities which both countries have.
These commitments were also repeated during the meeting of the delegation of ARM with the Deputy Defense Minister Petro Kochi where Mr. Kochi expressed full support of the Republic of Albania for Macedonian efforts for NATO integration.
Lieutenant General Velichkovski stressed the importance of granted support, especially by the partners from the USA – Adriatic Charter with whom the initiative for NATO membership was launched. In addition, he expressed the expectations for recent inclusion of the Republic of Macedonia to the partner countries as a full member in the Alliance.
After the meeting at the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, Macedonian military delegation visited the Naval Forces Command in Durres, where apart from the meeting with the commander, Major General Ylber Dogjani, the delegation was presented with the mission, the tasks and the capacities of the Albanian Naval Forces.
The delegation of ARM also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Tirana where they had a meeting with the Acting Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia Mrs. Atina Nichovska. ARM has a good bilateral cooperation with the Albanian Armed Forces which is the most developed in the area of military education, training and exercises as well as within the Adriatic Charter and the forum of Chiefs of General Staffs of the armies from the Balkan countries. The visit to the Albanian Armed Forces is an excellent occasion to improve the cooperation between the two armies.
