ARM military delegation led by the Chief of ARM General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski from 11th until 13th April will be paying a visit to the Armed Force (AF) of the Republic of Croatia. His host will be the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian AF, General Mirko Shundov.
The aim of the visit is to discuss possibilities for improvement of bilateral military cooperation between the countries, as well as the cooperation within the Adriatic Charter (A-5). At the meeting of the Chiefs of General Staffs of both armies, possibilities for increased number of joint training events using the recourses of both armies were discussed. The ARM delegation was also received at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia.
During the meetings, General Velichkovski emphasized the importance of the final phase of the A5 countries integration into NATO for the stability and security in the region. He also pointed out that new security challenges such as extreme radicalism and cyber attacks can only be handled by building joint defence resources to which the Republic of Macedonia remains firmly committed.
During the three-day visit the delegation will visit the Special Forces Command of the Croatian AF in Delnice and the Military Academy “Dr Franjo Tudjman”. Our delegation, which includes the Commanders of the Special Operations Regiment and the Training and Doctrine Command, will meet with the commanders of the centres and units. They will also meet with the ARM service personnel who are currently attending training at the Academy.
ARM has established a good bilateral military cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and as a result Macedonian officers are being trained in staff and command duties at the Croatian Military Academy. In addition, several joint training events within the framework of A5 initiative have been held.
