Today, at the military barracks ‘Chojlija’ – Petrovec Garrison, ‘2nd June – Day of the Tank Battalion’ was marked with military ceremony. Besides the Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1stMIB), Colonel Dragan Kovachki, representatives from the Joint Operations Command (JOC), previous commanders of the Tank Battalion, commanders of subordinate units of the 1stMIB and commanders of units from Petrovec Garrison attended the ceremony.
Addressing the audience, Commander of the 1stMIB, Colonel Dragan Kovachki and Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Stojanovski, emphasized the historical development, the effort and the achievements of the tank battalion members in the training, their daily tasks, engagement in international exercises and future activities of the tank battalion. The spirit and tradition of the unit were also mentioned, built over the past 28 years, and rooted deeply into each member of the tank battalion, that date back to 2nd June 1992, the day when Tank Platoon was established as part of the Guard Brigade of the Army which existed at the time.
1st Platoon of the 1st Tank Company was declared the best platoon, based on the results achieved in carrying out their daily tasks, their professional military readiness and team-building. The Platoon Commander was presented a cup and a flag.
On the occasion of the Day of the Unit incentives were given to battalion members who excelled in their work and training, and who contributed to strengthening of unit’s combat readiness. After that followed a presentation of the armament and equipment of the tank crew.
