The city of Norfolk, Virginia, USA, is known for hosting many cultural events throughout the year, reflected in the city’s art program or Art Fest Virginia Events. This is due to the historical context of Norfolk and Virginia, and especially the city being the headquarters of the United States Navy’s Second Fleet, the largest naval base in the country. Part of the Naval Base Norfolk are the headquarters of NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and Joint Forces Command-Norfolk (JFCN).
A special pride of the city is the organization of the Norfolk NATO Festival, dedicated to NATO and is a gratitude from the Norfolk City Council in honor of this political and military organization. The significance of the festival from an organizational aspect and participation in it is high on the agenda of the AST commander. The Macedonian military representatives within the AST, this year took part in all events during the festival in the period from 24 -26 April 2025. Starting from the opening of the event, where the flags of the member states were presented with a ceremonial parade, the culmination of the festival were the two working points: a parade of nations and an international village, conducted on April 26, 2025. The two events of the festival were used for a worthy presentation of the Macedonian state symbols, culture and customs. The Commander of the AST also expressed satisfaction with the engagement and dedication of the military delegation to this activity during the informal meeting. The national presentations at both events were also observed by the Macedonian Defense Attaché in the United States and his assistant. We would like to express our great gratitude to the Macedonian community in New Jersey, USA, who supported us in presenting the country in a dignified manner.
