Today, in the afternoon hours, the exercise “Fast Lion-14” officially started. It is attended by personnel from the ARM EUBG 2014-2 Force Protection Company.
Preparations for the European Union Battle Group 2014-2 began in 2012 and will continue until 30 June 2014.
Earlier in November 2013 the first major exercise for EUBG 2014-2 was carried out in the Kingdom of the Netherlands where, the headquarters was set up for the first time, and where the cooperation between different sections and reactions to a number of incidents were evaluated.
The Battle Group, under the leadership of the Kingdom of Belgium, under the command of Colonel Philippe Boucke of the Belgian army, consists of six participating countries: the Republic of Macedonia, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the Kingdom of Spain, Germany and the leader -the Kingdom of Belgium.
During the exercise activities the soldiers of EUBG 2014-2 are going to work on fictional scenario for a humanitarian mission in support of displaced persons and refugees, as well as search and detention of people suspected of war crimes.
The challenge of the exercise is the joint work of 6 different countries with a staff of about 2900 troops in a battle group.
