Pursuant to the requirements of the municipality of Tetovo, on the basis of the decision of the Ministry of Defence, today members of the Engineer Battalion from the Army of Republic of Macedonia conducted a controlled explosion of four rocks in the region of the village of Shipkovica.
Today’s activity was preceded by detailed assessments and preparations. By setting a sequence of connected explosives in miner holes, an internal cracking of rocks was caused, and the wreckage will be removed by using additional machinery. Earlier, in the same region, a rock was mechanically removed by members of the Engineer Battalion.
The removal of the rocks means removal of the threats and dangers that in heavy rain would cause additional damage to the local population and the environment in this region.
The Defence Minister, Deputy Defence Minister, Joint Operational Command Commander, 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander and representatives of the media attended the event of blasting the rocks in the region near the village of Shipkovica.
