In the frames of the two day official visit of the ARM, the commanding officer of the Joint Forces Command of NATO in Naples, Admiral Bruce Clingan, today in the General Staff of the ARM had a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the ARM, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski. During his stay in the General Staff, Admiral Clingan had a meeting with the Minister of Defense, Thalat Djaferi.
On the discussions in the General Staff, Admiral Clingan was introduced to the ARM transformation plan, experience from the missions led by NATO, EU and UN, declared capacities of the ARM for support and participation in missions and post-ISAF.
The Chief of the GS, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski stressed the intentions and the aspirations of Republic of Macedonia for a complete membership in NATO, and the dedication of the ARM for further maintenance of the achieved interoperability and operative capability for participation in NATO, EU and UN led missions. He particularly stressed the implementation of the Operative capability Concept of NATO, that ARM so vigorously implement in its evaluation of the declared forces, reminding of the upcoming evaluation of the medium infantry battalion group and the field hospital – role 2, which will be executed during this month.
Admiral Clingan expressed his impressions from the contribution given by Republic of Macedonia and the ARM with their participation in the peace missions, noting that the ARM cooperation plays a significant role in the reform of the Army, as well as in bringing important decisions in the planning of the Alliance’s operations. At the end, he expressed his gratitude for ARM support of KFOR forces in Kosovo, as well as for the contribution in the ALTEA mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina and ISAF in Afghanistan, aiding that today’s visit will give a new impulse in the relations between the Joint Forces Command of NATO and the ARM.
