Today, in Caracal, Romania, the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (AF) of Romania, General Gheorghiță Vlad and the Commander of the NATO Multinational Brigade South-East, Brigadier General Constantin Nicolaescu, participated in a military ceremony at which certificates of appreciation were awarded to Macedonian soldiers participating in the “enhanced Vigilance Activities ” (eVA) for their commitment and professionalism.
General Nicolaescu awarded medals to several members of the Army, who as part of this brigade, participate in NATO activities in Romania. General Gjurchinovski awarded a small Army plaque to the four Army members and two members of the Armed Forces of Romania.
In the address to the Macedonian contingent, the Chiefs of Staff emphasized their professional attitude and maximum contribution in all activities carried out as part of the Multinational Brigade South-East, as well as the full interoperability with the rest of the contingents from the NATO armies in composition of this brigade.
After the ceremony, the generals attended a briefing by the Commander of the Multinational Brigade South-East, Brigadier General Constantin Nicolaescu, where they were informed about the composition, activities and tasks performed by our members within this structure.
Lieutenant General Gjurchinovski discussed with his Romanian colleague the further improvement of the bilateral military cooperation, as well as the tasks conducted within the “enhanced Vigilance Activities.”
The day before, Lieutenant General Gjurchinovski visited the Army members of the Republic of North Macedonia, who are serving in the NATO Multinational Forces in the Republic of Bulgaria, as part of the NATO Multinational Battlegroup in Novo Selo, during which he expressed appreciation for their commitment and contribution to the activities.
Also, he had a working meeting with the commander of the Multinational Battlegroup, Colonel Mariano Rocco Scandura, where our contribution and further planned activities were discussed.
Our contribution to “enhanced Vigilance Activities” began in late 2022 with the deployment of two platoons to Romania and Bulgaria, where together with members of the Allied Armed Forces they are an integral part of the collective deterrence and defense system. During this period, the members of the Army proved their training and professionalism several times, with individuals being named the best soldiers for certain months.
