The President of Republic of North Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Stevo Pendarovski and the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, visited the water training camp of the Army of Republic of North Macedonia in Ohrid today.
The President Pendarovski and the guest from Slovenia after the reception by the Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski got acquainted with part of the training performed by the members of the special forces battalion, as well as with the opportunities offered by this capacity to the Army to perform this kind of activities.
The members of the special forces battalion, in front of the Supreme Commander and the guest from Slovenia showed by demonstration exercises, procedures that are taken in a hostage situation on a vessel, in which a helicopter Mi-8/17 from the Air Brigade of the Army was included. High level of skills and training for performance of complex tasks on water in accordance with the NATO standards were demonstrated.
Prior to the exercise, the mission and the tasks of the Army of Republic of North Macedonia were presented to the President of Slovenia, and the members of the special forces battalion; the popular “Wolves” performed a brief demonstration exercise where they presented part of the martial arts typical for this elite unit.
Stressing the high level of expertise of the members of the Army of Republic of North Macedonia, to perform the task which come with our full membership in NATO, President Pendarovski after the exercise, also, said that the members of the Army were trained and ready to respond to all challenges within their mission.
During today’s visit the members of the special forces battalion and the air brigade, once again showed their skills and readiness to respond to all challenges that they might face within their missions. Thus, they confirm the complete readiness of the members of the Army of Republic of North Macedonia to perform any kind of tasks that come from our full membership in NATO.
