Members of the Honour Guard Battalion marked the Day of the Unit, 11th November, with a military ceremony, in accordance with the protocols and in compliance with the COVID-19 measures.
In his address, the Deputy Chief of General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, congratulated the day to one of the most representative Army units which, in a symbolic way by raising the NATO flag in front of our state institutions, was the first to mark full membership in the most powerful military alliance.
“Promoting the values of the Army and our homeland is a great honour, obligation, but also a motive to continue to walk on that path. As proud bearers of state insignia, I expect you to achieve even greater success by consistently applying the Guard Code and by impeccably performing the set tasks,” the general said in his address.
The unit commander, Lieutenant Colonel Darko Stojkovski said in his speech that in the past the Honour Guard Battalion continuously achieved high results in daily work, in the implementation of protocols, as well as various forms and contents of training when their achievements were supported and evaluated by the superior command.
On the occasion of the Day of the Unit, incentives were awarded to some of the members who stood out and achieved results in the work and training in the past.
The Honour Guard Battalion was formed on the foundations of the First Guard Brigade, established after the independence of the Republic of Macedonia, on March 26, 1992 in the barracks “Ilinden”.
11th November, was chosen as a day of unit in honour of the First Macedonian-Kosovo Brigade, formed on this date in 1943, in the village of Slivovo.
