During an official visit to the United States, the Macedonian delegation, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador Angela Aggeler, visited the Vermont National Guard’s Ethan Allen training range. During the visit, the capabilities of the range, as well as the programs and resources available to support bilateral military cooperation, were presented. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear defense), mountain warfare, and joint military exercises and training.
In the period 2019–2024, through Program 333 and with U.S. support, the Army’s CBRN company was successfully modernized through the acquisition of new equipment, the implementation of training, and close cooperation with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Vermont National Guard.
Additionally, cooperation with the U.S. Army Mountain Warfare School is deepening with the aim of developing national capacity and certifying instructors in this specific area, which is important for the operational readiness of the Special Forces unit.
Cooperation continues in 2025–2026 with joint activities, including the Army’s participation in the large-scale exercises Saber Junction 2025 and Immediate Response 2025, which confirms continuous and strategic bilateral cooperation. The development of the Army Training Area Krivolak was also discussed. With U.S. support, Krivolak is becoming a strategic platform for joint training and the realization of multinational military exercises. With investments in infrastructure, logistics, and training standards, the Army Training Area Krivolak is positioning itself as a regional center for NATO training, with the potential to support collective security.
The cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the USA represents an example of a long-term partnership and a shared commitment to stability, resilience, and security.
