The 25th anniversary of the death of Army Reserve Forces personnel at the Ljubotenski Bachila locality was commemorated today by laying fresh flowers at several memorial sites.
As part of the commemoration, a delegation from the General Staff and the Ministry of Defence, led by the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, laid wreaths of fresh flowers at the memorials dedicated to the fallen members in the village of Ljubanci, Volkovo, in the Municipality of Gjorche Petrov, and at the “Ilinden” Barracks.
A Government delegation, led by Deputy President of the Government and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikolovski, also paid tribute.
In honour of the fallen defenders, fresh flowers were also laid by delegations from the Office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Assembly, families of the fallen personnel, local government authorities, and citizens’ associations.
On 10 August 2001, the Army members of the Reserve Component: Tome Badarovski, Goce Chankulovski, Branko Janev, Tomislav Nastevski, Marjancho Boskovski, Ivica Zlatevski, Tome Dimovski and Rade Jankovski, tragically lost their lives when a mine was detonated on the road near the Ljubotenski Bachila locality while they were travelling in an Army transport vehicle.
