In today’s talks with the US Special Operations Command Europe delegation, which is having a two-day-visit of the Republic of Macedonia, main topics of conversation were the cooperation in training and joint participation at international military exercises of the ARM Special Operations Regiment (SOR) and the US Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR).
During their visit of the ARM General Staff, the Commander of SOCEUR, Major General Mark C. Schwartz had a meeting with the ARM Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, where continuous cooperation in training, joint participation at international military exercises and possibilities for further joint activities at TA Krivolak were discussed.
While visiting the Command of the ARM Special Operations Regiment, the delegation got acquainted with the benefits gained through joint trainings supported by the US Special Operations Command Europe, which began in 1996, as well as with the joint multinational and multi-echelon exercises at different interrelated locations.
Besides the activities in the area of training and international exercises with the US Armed Forces, due to the partnership assistance programme with the Vermont National Guard, which this year is marking the 25th anniversary since its introduction, more than 800 activities have been completed. During this period, 6000 ARM members acquired the standards, techniques and procedures of the US Armed Forces, which are implemented in the ARM units and commands, and reached the NATO standards.
