Today and tomorrow Macedonian Army Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski will participate in NATO Strategic Military Partners Conference (SMPC 2016), held in Bucharest, Romania.
The focus of the two-day event hosted by the Allied Command Transformation are long-term issues associated with the transformation of the military partnership as well as other global issues. CHODs of NATO countries, Partnership for Peace Countries, Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and Mediterranean Dialogue representatives will attend the conference.
Today on the experts’ day of the conference the following will be considered: current security situation, further actions strategy, transformation of cooperation between the PfP armies and NATO, and identification of areas for joint action.
The focus on the second session of the conference, which will be held tomorrow among Chiefs of Staff, will be the partnership as a pillar of success and stability in the modern world, autonomous systems and special operations, security challenges after Warsaw Summit and opportunities for future partnership activities.
In his speeche General Velichkovski will highlight the continuing contribution made by the Republic of Macedonia and ARM in addressing global security challenges, and overall efforts of ARM to integrate in the Euro-Atlantic structure of NATO.
During the conference General Velichkovski will meet with senior military officers from NATO and Chiefs of Staff of the countries participating in the conference. During these meetings useful information and experiences will be exchanged.
Since 2005 specific military matters of mutual interest for allied and partner armies, such as current military cooperation, synchronised implementation of NATO and PfP countries plans, etc. have been considered at this annual conference of NATO Allied Command Transformation.
