The Minister of Defense, in his speech, emphasized that ‘from the very beginning your unit continuously justifies its name, being the most elite unit of the Army of Republic of Macedonia and justly stands as a synonym for the highest aims, the highest standards and the best results’. But, he also pointed out the importance of this unit with the current global challenges, where the professionalism and dedication are going to be essential for the further ARM capacity building.
Addressing the members of the unit, the Special Operations Regiment (SOR) Commander, Colonel Orce Jordev stated that at these challenging times the interests of the unit should come before personal interests, in order to accomplish the unit’s mission to perform special operations in defense of the Republic of Macedonia.
The celebration concluded with a ceremonial parade of the units, followed by a methodical-demonstration exercise ‘building cleaning’, during which the regiment members showed their skills at the combined practice tower, and after that they demonstrated their martial arts, which distinguishes them from the other ARM units.
Despite the extremely strict selection criteria for admission in the unit, at the last recruit competitions for admission of professional soldiers, the candidates showed great interest in this enticing unit.
At the celebration of the day of the unit, motivational measures were read for the members of the Special Operations Regiment (SOR) for their achieved results.
With a decision from the President of the Republic of Macedonia for determining the unit’s day for the units of the Army of Republic of Macedonia, 1st of March was appointed the Special Operations Regiment Day, the date when for the first time in the history of the Army of Republic of Macedonia a Special Purpose Unit under the name of ‘the Wolves’ was founded, and in November 2006 the unit was restructured into a Special Operations Regiment (SOR), which comprises the Special Forces Battalion and the Rangers Battalion.
