On 21.10.2014 (Tuesday) at the barracks “Ilinden” in Skopje, there was a ceremony to mark “October 21” the Day of the Signals Battalion.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the General Staff of the Army of Republic of Macedonia (ARM GS), the Joint Operations Command (JOC), former commanders of the signals regiment, local government and other guests.
Signals Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Stanko Velkov noted that the signals units are an essential part of the Army of Republic of Macedonia. Today, in modern terms, having power over the information is invaluable. Therefore, the Signals Battalion lives and works under the slogan “Information is power”. With its structure and technical equipment, the Signals Battalion is an essential establishment for the purposes of the JOC and GS.
The ceremony congratulations were read to the members of the Signals Battalion, as well as incentives on the occasion of the Day of the unit.
At the end of the ceremony, a part of the special equipment available at the Signals Battalion was displayed, with which the expertly and professionally trained officers and civilians successfully carry out their mission.
By decision of the President of the Republic of Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Gjorgje Ivanov, PhD, October 21 is selected as the Day of the Signals Battalion, as a date which marks a significant historical event associated with the date of the establishment of the signals department in the headquarters of the National Liberation Army of Macedonia.
