Independence Day of Republic of Macedonia was solemnly celebrated in the missions ‘ISAF’ in Afghanistan and ‘ALTEA’ in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On 8th September 2014 at the HQ base of ISAF, and on 9th September 2014 at base Butmir in Saraevo, Independence Day of Republic of Macedonia was marked with a ceremony.
The celebration on the occasion of the Independence Day in the mission ALTEA was held one day later, because a day of mourning was declared for those killed in a mining accident in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The ceremony, held at the mission ‘ISAF’, was attended by members of the Head Quarters of ISAF, led by Lieutenant General Carsten Jacobson, the civilian representative Ambassador Moritz Johems, representatives from the Base Support Command, led by Commander Colonel Paul Johnson, the senior national representatives from Croatia, Bulgaria, Albania, and representatives from Spain, Poland, Denmark and Romania.
Members of the Macedonian contingent, who are deployed in the peace missions, were complimented for the Independence Day of Republic of Macedonia by the senior national representatives, who for the occasion gave speeches in front of the audience on the importance of this historical day for Republic of Macedonia.
On this occasion, orders were read for part of the rewarded contingent members, and congratulations from the Chief of the GS of the ARM, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski and from the JOC Commander, Major General Metodija Velickovski were conveyed.
