A military ceremony was held on 21, October 2019 at 11 a.m. in ‘Ilinden’ military barracks in Skopje to mark ‘October 21st’ Day of the Signals Battalion.
The ceremony was attended by the commander of the Joint Operations Command (JOC), Major General Pavle Arsoski, the Chief of the J-6 section of the Army GS, Colonel Dushko Nestorov, commanders of the JOC subordinate units, previous commanders of the Signals Battalion and Regiment, representatives of the local government and representatives of companies cooperating with the unit.
In his speech Major General Pavle Arsoski emphasized that the members of the Signals Battalion are professionals, and that they perform their particularly responsible duty in extremely complex conditions, in order to provide uninterrupted functioning of the system of command and control of the commands and units in the Army. In his address, the commander of the Signals Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ilija Damcevski, among other things pointed out that the Signals Battalion is one of the synonyms of modernization of our army, having in mind that transfer of information through sophisticated devices and systems is our reality, integrated into one Global communication-information system and that for them in the Signals Battalion, carrying out the mission is not a destination easily achieved but a continuous, challenging path they all proudly tread.
Furthermore, there was a display of part of the communication systems the Signals Battalion possesses, and together with highly competent and professional officers and civilians successfully conducts their mission.
During the ceremony commendations were read, and incentives were awarded in honor of the Day of the Signals Battalion. A humanitarian action was also realized together with the Municipality of ‘Sopishte’ in order to manifest our charitable side and to help families in need. Also, sports events were organized.
In honor of the Day of the Unit, the battalion organized a blood donating action as well, at the City General Hospital ‘8th September’ where a large number of unit members actively participated.
Through donating blood, act which expresses highest level of humanity; the members demonstrated their solidarity to save and prolong someone’s life.
Currently, modern way of life proves that control of information is priceless, so that is why the Signals Battalion lives under the motto ‘INFORMATION IS POWER’.
