The Engineer Battalion (ENB) from the composition of the Operations Command, during the past period intensively performs work activities at the “Krivolak” Military Training Center in order to maintain and improve the road infrastructure and other facilities for the needs of the Army. The activities are part of the preparations for creating optimal conditions for the realization of the “Decisive Strike 21” exercise (OU-21) as part of the “Defender Europe 21” (DE-21) exercise.
The preparations for the realization of the tasks started on 04.05.2020 with the transport of the entire necessary mechanization of the ENB. The transport from the Ilinden Barracks – Skopje to “Krivolak” MTC was realized in coordination and assistance of the leadership of the exercise “OU-21”, the US Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) at the US Embassy in North Macedonia and the KFOR forces.
In the period from 12.05. until 14.12.2020, active work was done on the construction and the penetration of the road that connects the village Mushanci and village Shtrkalevo in order to connect the “Penush” Military Training Center. In this stage of the activities, a total of about 60 km of roads have been penetrated or reconstructed.
As part of the preparations and creation of conditions for the realization of the exercise “OU-21”, a search was conducted at “Krivolak” MTC for unexploded mines – explosives, this search was conducted in the length of 15 km in the direction of the “Winter – 2 ” camp – village Eshnevo.
The activities of “Krivolak” MTC continued from 18.02.2021 with the realization of the following activities: repair of the existing road infrastructure in the area of Djidimirci, as well as repair and preparation of the upper layer of the road from the village Mushanci to the village Shtrkalevo. Its filling with crushed stone in the length of 4,200 meters is in progress. The road infrastructure to the observatory Djidimirska Chuka has been completed, where the existing stage has been removed and the construction of a new one has begun.
The activities related to the stated and so far realized tasks at “Krivolak” MTC include also the joint upcoming training of ENB with the 15th engineer battalion of the U.S Army stationed in Europe. It will be held in the period from 15.03. until 12.05.2021. The goal of the training is to strengthen our ongoing partnership with the United States and improve the interoperability according to NATO standards.
