At today’s opening of the crisis management exercise, organized by the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and the Crisis Management Center, in the presence of Deputy Chief of General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin and the Director of the General Staff, Major General Zoran Mileski, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia started participating in the exercise called “North Macedonia 2021” that will be held in the regions of Ohrid and Struga from 20th to 24th September.
Throughout the period of its existence, the Army, as part of the crisis management system, together with other institutions in the country has contributed in dealing with crises. In this exercise the Army will participate with more than 100 members who will take part in the main crisis headquarters, in the rescue teams, in the “Role 2” field hospital within the Balkan Medical Task Force, as well as with real logistics, security and markers personnel.
Testing the capacities and resources of the System for Crisis Management will be the main objectives of the exercise, followed by checking the readiness of the Next-Generation Incident Command System (NICS), which will be able to manage with available resources in real time on a regional level, as well as testing the measures for free movement of technology and people through the borders among NATO members in crisis.
The Army will engage in the framework of civil-military cooperation in a real setting coordination in crisis, and as a last resort for assistance and help to other institutions.
Representatives of 28 NATO member and partner countries and several international organizations are taking part in the exercise. The exercise will enable quick response teams in crisis, planners and assessors to develop and rehearse search and rescue urban areas activities, on water and in mountains, emergency medical teams exercises, activities for teams for detection and identification of chemical, biological and radiological agents, as well as disinformation related activities.
