From 18th -28th of October, the Army service personnel took part in the exercise „Disaster Relief Military Mobility Exercise 21“ (DRM2EX21), organized by the Slovenian armed forces in order to support Slovenian presidency of the European Council (EC).
The exercise took place in multiple locations in Slovenia, including the mountainous regions, the port of Koper, natural lakes and a few residential areas and industrial regions. Joint Forces Command (JFC) and the armed forces of Slovenia led the exercise featuring participants from 20 countries.
The Army took part in an exercise of this kind for the first time. There were many scenarios, which included crisis management during natural disasters, as well as terrorist attacks by third countries.
During the exercise, the main tasks were giving assistance in times of natural disasters, military mobility and force protection operations, as well as protection of the civilian population.
