Today, thousands of citizens from Kumanovo and the surrounding area had the opportunity to see up close some of the aircraft, vehicles and equipment that will be part of the “Quick Response 23” exercise, which were exhibited at the “Adzi Tepe” sports airport in the vicinity of the town.
At the aircraft exhibition of the Armies of the Republic of North Macedonia and the United States the citizens watched with particular interest “AH – 64 Apache” combat helicopters, the “UH -60” and “HH-60” (black hawk) transport helicopters, CH – 47 (Chinook), and Mi 8/17.
The citizens also got a chance to familiarize with Humvee vehicles with different types of armament, specialized CBRN vehicle, an ambulance, the Light Tactical Armored Vehicle “JLTV”, armored vehicles “Cobra” and “Hermelin”, as well as with parachute, mountaineering, diving, CBRN and other equipment.
Among the exhibited items was the sophisticated, so-called PROJECT ORIGIN, robotic vehicle, which is in trial use by the US Army and is a platform for testing and demonstrating new technologies.
Through direct communication with the army members, the citizens had the opportunity, in addition to the technical characteristics of the exhibited items, to get acquainted with the military profession, as well as to take pictures in the aircraft and vehicles.
As part of the civil-military cooperation, an exhibition of drawings by students from Kumanovo secondary schools could be seen at the sports airport, and the orchestra from “Goce Delchev” High School performed.
The “Immediate Response 23” exercise, which officially begins tomorrow, will be the largest exercise carried out in the Republic of North Macedonia this year, with the participation of the Armies of 4 NATO countries and one partner country: the Republic of North Macedonia, the United States of America, Albania, Montenegro and as NATO partner country Kosovo, with a total of about 1850 participants.
