Today, (August 8) a delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Army led by the State Secretary, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova and the Director of the General Staff, Brigadier General Orce Jordev, laid a wreath of fresh flowers at the memorial of the Macedonian defenders who lost their lives in the Karpalak area in 2001. In memory of the Macedonian defenders, fresh flowers were also laid by delegations from the President and Commander-in-Chief of Army cabinet, the Government, representatives of the families of the deceased members of the Army and citizen associations.
The twenty-fourth anniversary of the death of the ten Army members was also marked in Prilep, where a delegation from the General Staff of the Army and the Ministry of Defense laid fresh flowers in front of the “Karpalak” complex on the same occasion.
Yesterday, delegations from the Army and the Ministry of Defense, the families of the deceased members of the Army, associations of participants in military conflict, the Prilep local government and citizens paid tribute to the fallen soldiers at the memorial in the barracks “Mirche Acev” in Prilep.
In the attack on the Army forces convoy on the Skopje – Tetovo highway, near the village of Grupchin, in the “Karpalak” area, on August 8, 2001, Marko Despotoski, Nane Naumoski, Sasho Kitanoski, Branko Sekuloski, Goran Minoski, Erdovan Shabanoski, Ljube Grujoski, Darko Veljanoski, Pece Sekuloski and Vebi Rushidoski, from the Army Reserve Forces, Prilep garrison, lost their lives.
