The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, held a meeting today with Lieutenant Colonel Michael Cohen on the occasion of his appointment as Head of the Office of Defense Cooperation at the Embassy of the United States of America in our country.
At the meeting, General Lafchiski expressed his gratitude for the Office’s contribution so far in advancing bilateral cooperation between the two armies. He emphasized the role of the Office in the development of the Light Infantry Battalion, the implementation of joint trainings and exercises, the development of the Аrmy Training Area Krivolak, as well as other defense-related activities. On this occasion, General Lafchiski expressed his expectation that this intensive cooperation will continue in the future.
Lieutenant Colonel Michael Cohen assumed the position from Lieutenant Colonel Sean Ruffolo, who served as Head of the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy over the past three years.
The new Head, Lieutenant Colonel Cohen, is an officer for international cooperation. Before his appointment in Skopje, he served at the U.S. Army Headquarters in the G-3/5/7 International Affairs Division, where he worked with military representatives from several countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
