Today, December 22, the regular annual briefing with the Defense Attachés was held at the Members of Parliament Club in Skopje. The speakers at the event were the Minister of Defense, Vlado Misajlovski, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski and the Romanian Defense Attaché, Colonel Cătălin-Petre Arcip.
“The three priorities on which defense is base: stable budgeting, additional stimulation in the modernization process and complete respect and advancement of the rights and obligations toward the employees, these are the priorities that could be observed in every step we took in 2025” said the Minister of Defense Vlado Misajlovski at the regular briefing with the Defense Attachés accredited in the country.
The Minister pointed out that in 2025 “the Ministry and the Army continued to strengthen the defense capabilities and capacities, accelerated the modernization process and raised the level of interoperability with our allies”, while also emphasizing that the level of stable growth of the defense budget will be maintained in 2026 as well.
On this occasion, General Lafchiski expressed gratitude to the Defense Attachés for their constructive spirit and dedication, as well as for the close cooperation with the institutions and units of the Army, pointing out “This partnership not only strengthened the professional relations, but also contributed to building lasting relationships based on mutual respect and shared values.” Speaking about the future, General Lafchiski emphasized: “I am convinced that through continued cooperation and open communication, we will further enhance our joint efforts toward regional stability, international security and fulfillment of our common defense goals”.
In his address, Colonel Cătălin-Petre Arcip highlighted the strong commitment of our country to the bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation, emphasizing the role of the military attachés as key channels of communication between military-political and military leaders. In conclusion, he expressed gratitude to the Army for its “significant contribution to the security in the Western Balkans and also at the regional level”, as well as for the “demonstrated transparency and support in relation to the Association of Defense Attachés”.
At this briefing, the Defense Attachés were also informed, among other things, about the activities of the Army, including the participation in missions, operations and activities outside the country, about the modernization and equipping, the participation of the Army in international and national exercises and the capacities and opportunities for conducting training and exercises at the Army Training Area “Krivolak.”.
