A delegation of the Macedonian Army, led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, concluded its multi-day working visit to the Armed Forces of the United States with meetings with senior U.S. military representatives at the Pentagon in Washington.
During yesterday’s activities, General Lafchiski met with the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, General Randy George, where the high level of trust and cooperation between the two armies was reaffirmed. During the meeting, experiences of the U.S. Army in conducting modern conflicts were shared, including the development of new capabilities, particularly in addressing threats from unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned systems. Additionally, discussions were held on the strategic importance of the Army Training Area “Krivolak” and the possibilities for its further development in order to increase capacities for conducting training and exercises.
As part of the visit, General Lafchiski also met with the Chief of G-8 of the U.S. Army, Lieutenant General Peter Benchoff, and representatives from the U.S. Directorate for Defense Cooperation. During the separate meetings, discussions focused on processes related to the equipment and modernization of the Army.
Yesterday’s meetings in Washington were preceded by a number of significant activities, including a meeting with the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces, General Christopher Mahoney, attendance at the ceremonial change-of-command ceremony of the Vermont National Guard, and a meeting with the new Commander of the Vermont National Guard, Major General Henry Harder.
The working visit of the Macedonian delegation represents a confirmation of the continuous cooperation between the Macedonian Army and the Armed Forces of the United States.
