The Deputy Director of J5 USEUCOM, General Chris A. McKinney, as part of his working visit to the Army held a meeting with the Chief of the Army General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski today.
Current security challenges in the world and the region were reviewed during the meeting. Special emphasis was placed on the process of modernization and equipping of the Army, as well as on the preparation of Army units that are part of the capability targets package.
During the day, General McKinney also visited the Army’s cyber operations center, where he was introduced to the capacities and activities in the field of cyber defense.
General McKinney also visited the 1st Infantry Brigade at the “NH Strasho Pindjur” barracks in Petrovec, where he met with the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, and the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski. During the visit, General McKinney was briefed on the Light Infantry Battalion Group, a unit that will be evaluated this month according to NATO’s Combat Readiness Evaluation Standards for Land Commands and Units under the Allied Joint Force Command.
During the visit to the barracks, General McKinney toured Army personnel who were conducting basic training on STRYKER light armored vehicles, as well as maintenance training for these vehicles.
