On 22 July, 2026, a farewell meeting was held at the Operations Command between the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, and the Defence Attaché of the Republic of Türkiye, Colonel Recai Yılmaz, who is ending his diplomatic and military mission in the Republic of North Macedonia.
During the meeting, Brigadier General Gjorgoski expressed his appreciation for Colonel Yılmaz’s professional engagement, dedication, and contribution to strengthening bilateral military cooperation between the armed forces of the two friendly and allied countries. It was emphasized that, through intensive communication and mutual support over the past period, numerous activities had been successfully implemented, contributing to enhanced operational cooperation, the exchange of experience, training, and the further development of partnership relations in the spirit of the NATO Alliance.
The Commander of the Operations Command emphasized that the Republic of Türkiye is an important strategic partner and a long-standing supporter of the development and modernization of the Army. He expressed confidence that the established cooperation would continue to grow in the future, based on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests.
As part of his farewell visit, the Defence Attaché also met with the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, as well as the Deputy Commander of the Air Force WING, Colonel Igor Chkorov. During the meetings, the results of the cooperation achieved to date were reviewed, and views were exchanged on further strengthening the professional ties between the Army’s units and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Türkiye.
For his part, the Defence Attaché expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him, the support he received, and the excellent cooperation he enjoyed with the personnel of the Operations Command and the Army throughout his mandate.
