On the occasion of the start of the activities for the exercise “FLASH 26”, which will be conducted at multiple locations across the country from 19 April to 27April 2026, a media briefing was held today at the General Staff of the Army.
The briefing was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, the Director of the Exercise, Colonel Igor Arsovski, the spokesperson of the General Staff of the Army and part of the key personnel from the General Staff of the Army and the Operations Command involved in the planning and preparation process of the exercise.
The Chief of the General Staff emphasized that the evaluation of the Light Infantry Battalion Group (LIBG), which will be carried out within this exercise, represents the culmination of many years of preparation of the largest and most important NATO capability – the LIBG, which we have been developing since before our country’s accession to NATO.
Colonel Arsovski presented the most important information regarding the type, objectives, activities and participants of the exercise, as well as the opportunities for media coverage during the exercise.
The exercise “FLASH 26” is a continuation of the exercise series “Macedonian Flash” and represents a significant segment in the evaluation process of the Light Infantry Battalion Group (LIBG), a unit that is part of the NATO capability targets package. The main objective of the exercise is to assess the combat readiness level of the LIBG as a NATO capability target.
Approximately 1,500 service personnel of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, NATO monitors and an observer team from the Multinational Land Forces (MLF) will participate in the exercise.
