Today, October 18 2013, the self-evaluation Level-2 of the Medium Infantry Battalion Group (MIBG) and NATO evaluation Level 1 for the Light Maneuver Treatment Facility (LMTF) was finished, according to the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC), which took place this week as a part of the exercise “Macedonian Flash – 9” at the Army Training Area “Krivolak” and Training Centre (TC) “Pepelishte”.
According to the plan and the scenario for conducting the exercise, during the evaluation MIBG completed the following activities: escort to a humanitarian convoy with response to an improvised explosive device (IED), establishing lookout post, securing a base with crowd control and negotiations, patrolling and setting up temporary checkpoint, cordon and search, patrolling with response to IED, procedure in case of infantry and artillery attack on a base and MEDEVAC as well as conducting offensive operations.
The object of evaluation for the LMTF was the implementation of standard operating procedures for first aid, admission, triage, surgical treatment and stabilization of patients on the battlefield.
Today, before the end of “Macedonian Flash-9”, according to the OCC, there was a briefing at which the evaluation team announced the initial assessment to both units. At the briefing, the director of the evaluation team verbally informed the commandants of the declared units (MIBG and LMTF) that both units were positively assessed for conducting the mission, individually or as a part of a higher unit, outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia. Detailed assessment which will contain all the parameters according to the OCC will be presented in the following three months. With ceremony line up in TC “Pepelishte”, the exercise “Macedonian Flash-9” was officially closed today, after which the units return to their garrisons.
