Today (02.10. 2014) the Chief of General Staff LTC General Gorancho Koteski attended a tactical exercise with live firing on the topic: “Reinforced tank platoon in attack”, which was held at the Army training area (TA) Krivolak.
The tactical exercise was carried out by members of the armored battalion (AB) from the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (MIB). Besides the the Chief of General Staff, following persons attended the exercise: the Commander of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) Major General Metodija Velickovski, the Commander of the 1st MIB Brigadier General Pavle Arsoski and members of the JOC and 1st MIB.
A high level of expertise was demonstrated at the exercise, and excellent results were achieved with the program firing with the tank T-72’s crews. Besides the tactical practice, the program live firing was carried out through the destruction of enemy armored personnel carrier and infantry using a cannon and a machine gun, as well as firing at low flying targets.
The Chief of General Staff expressed his appreciation to the AB members for the excellent results achieved at the firing, emphasizing that the training is very important for the crews operating with tank T-72.
Live firing is a part of the program firing with arms of the armoured mechanized units, and it is the crown of the combat training of tank units. The crews of tank T-72 had to successfully pass school and preparatory firing as a condition to perform live firing.
