A delegation from the NATO mission in Kosovo – “KFOR”, led by the KFOR Commander, Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, paid a working visit to the General Staff of the Army and the Ministry of Defense today.
During the stay, the delegation had a meeting with the Director of the General Staff, Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski, which was attended by some of the chiefs of sections, followed by a meeting with Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska.
During the working meeting at the General Staff, the security situation in the region was discussed, the activities of the Army units that participate and perform tasks in this mission as part of the Western Regional Command, the cooperation with KFOR forces in relation to the current security risks and threats, as well as our further engagement in the mission and other joint activities.
On the regular working visit, the KFOR delegation during the day will also visit other state institutions, with which the Command of this NATO operation cooperates in the field of security, with the aim of strengthening regional stability.
Regular meetings between KFOR Command and the General Staff held several times throughout the year are particularly significant and necessary to maintain security and stability in the entire region.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia directly participates in KFOR, with staff officers in the mission’s main command and two security platoons in the regional command of KFOR – “West”.
In addition to direct participation, continuously since the beginning of the operation, through the coordination centre for support of the host country, we also provide logistic support to KFOR forces during customs and border procedures of NATO transports.
