The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, as part of the national security and defense system, will participate in the NATO Crisis Management Exercise 25 (CMX 25), from 13 to 18 March. This exercise will rehearse and test the Alliance’s consultation and decision-making procedures in accordance with the Strategic Concept and in support of NATO’s three core tasks at the strategic, political and military level. The exercise will involve both military and civilian personnel form allied countries, at the NATO Headquarters, and the two Strategic Commands.
As with previous exercises, CMX 25 will not include deployed forces. The exercise will focus on practising comprehensive responses to complex civil-military scenarios in a hybrid environment.
CMX 25 will also include staff-to-staff exchanges with the European External Action Service, the European Commission, and the Council of the European Union.
The Crisis Management Exercise has been conducted since 1992. The Republic of North Macedonia was initially scheduled to participate for the first time in 2021; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemics, the exercise was postponed. The Army’s took part in the exercise for the first time in 2023, and CMX 25 is its second participation in this exercise.
