As an integral part of the Plan for Higher Environmental Standards in Defense, the Army traditionally carries out environmental activities on the first day of spring in the barracks throughout the country.
In the “Ilinden” barracks in Skopje, in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Slavjanka Petrovska and Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, members of the commands and units stationed in the barracks, the General Staff and the barracks in Kumanovo and Petrovec traditionally marked “March 21 – the Day of Spring and Ecology” by planting trees.
In the ecological activities, several hundred evergreen seedlings were planted on several locations throughout the barracks.
The plan for higher environmental standards, which is part of the NATO Plan, is comprehensive. It shows that the defense pays attention to this segment of operations and is more than aware of the need for a healthy environment, for which a special so-called Plan for the Introduction of Eco-Defense has been prepared.
