After a storm had hit Skopje and its surrounding yesterday, the President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of the Macedonian Armed Forces Gjorge Ivanov, issued an order ARM to use all its resources to deal with the devastating consequences from the storm.
The Chief of ARM GS issued an order some of the units from the Special Forces of ARM to be deployed immediately using all the necessary equipment to help the local population who are in most critical situation and to deal with the after-effects of the storm.
During the night, search and rescue teams using special equipment and trucks, worked in village Stajkovci and its surroundings, village Singjelikj, municipality Chento and Skopje`s ring road. Together with MoI teams and other individuals, they searched the area, evacuated local inhabitants and cattle, and helped in moving overturned and stuck vehicles.
In the early morning hours, ARM transport helicopter with members of MoI on board, flew over the area that was hit by the storm in order to have a more precise picture of the situation and to establish future courses of action.
The Army of the Republic of Macedonia has deployed all means and soldiers that will help in overcoming the consequences from the storm, and currently even more soldiers have been deployed, as well as vehicles and other means and equipment to search the ground, evacuate and help the local inhabitants, and deliver water and other products from the donation centres in Skopje to the villages and areas that were mostly affected.
Thus, an Army representative is present at the Centre for Crisis of city Skopje to establish swift coordination of activities for all demands and needs and for further deployment of ARM service personnel and equipment.
During the course of the day the devastated areas, where ARM soldiers had been deployed, were visited by the President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov and the Chief of ARM GS Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski.
