On the occasion of the state holiday 2 August – Ilinden, Republic Day, and the First Session of ASNOM, high-level Army delegations paid tribute by laying fresh flowers at several historical memorial sites across the country today.
The Army delegation, led by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, paid tribute by laying fresh flowers in front of the monuments of Nikola Karev, ASNOM and Metodija Andonov-Chento in Skopje.
In Krushevo, a delegation led by the Director of the General Staff, Brigadier General Orce Jordev, took part in the commemorative activities by laying fresh flowers at the grave of Nikola Karev in the “Makedonium” Memorial Complex, followed by paying tribute at the monument to the heroes at the “Sliva” locality, as well as at the monument to the defenders of the Krushevo Republic at “Mechkin Kamen”.
At the central ceremony in Pelince, held at the ASNOM Memorial Center, an Army delegation led by the Commander of the First Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, paid tribute.
Respect for the historical past was also paid in the village of Smilevo, where an Army delegation laid fresh flowers in front of the monument to Dame Gruev and the memorial sites in the area.
