On June 27th, 2017 “Expert talks on civil-military cooperation and civil-military influences amid migrant crisis” as part of the Plan of bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Italy were held in the General Staff of ARM. The talks were led by were held which led by the Chief of Section for civil-military cooperation Colonel Vancho Shontevski. The experiences within the civil-military cooperation of both parties were presented at the meeting with a special emphasis on the migrant crisis.
Representatives of the Italian delegation were Lieutenant Colonel Massimiliano Silli and NCO Paolo Fabbro, who are also representatives of Multinational group of civil-military cooperation (Multinational CIMIC Group -MNCG) based in Motta di Livenza, Italy, and representatives of GS of ARM were Section J-9 and JOC.
MNCG is scheduled to be included in the field of civil-military cooperation, giving a full support to NATO military commanders. Furthermore, MNCG provides a wide range of CIMIC NATO courses and a place for expertise and consultation of civil-military cooperation on tactical and operational level, constantly in contact with various stakeholders, such as government organizations, NGOs, international organizations and the authorities of the host countries.
The conclusion drawn at the end of the meeting was that the cooperation could be deepened with implementation of education for civil-military cooperation for the personnel who is involved in this domain.
