Today, in the presence of NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General Philippe Lavigne, and the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, the Final Integrations Conference between the Republic of North Macedonia and NATO was held.
The completion of the Integration Working Group tasks, marked by the addressing of General Lavigne and General Gjurchinovski, enables signing of the Joint Declaration which will formally end the process of military integration of the Republic of North Macedonia in the command and the force structures of NATO.
The Minister of Defense, Radmila Shekerinska, the Deputy Chief of General Staff, General Azim Nuredin and Colonel Francesco Pacillo from NATO, Chairman of Integration Working Group, addressed the audience at the opening of the Final Integration Conference.
The process of military integration started after signing the Accession Protocol for the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO, in May 2019. After that an Initial Integration Conference was held, tasks and dynamics of the integration process were established, and it was agreed to be completed by 31st October, 2021.
In accordance with the integration dynamics of the Republic of North Macedonia in NATO, several conferences and coordinative meetings were held in the past period. They were at the working group level and reviewed the achievements of the Ministry of Defense and the Army in the process of military integration in terms of: administration, modernization and equipment, force structure, education, training, exercises and assessments, logistics, airspace control, communication and information systems, and cyber defense.
The completion of the military integration process in NATO is a proof of the commitment of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Defense to complete the given tasks through the transformation processes in the Ministry of Defense and the Army.
