The Commander of the U.S. European Command, General Christopher Cavoli, who is attending the A5 initiative Chiefs of Defence Conference, paid an official visit to the General Staff of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Defence today.
After the meeting at the Ministry and the General Staff, General Cavoli had an individual meeting with the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, followed by a joint meeting with the Minister of Defence, Slavjanka Petrovska.
At the meeting, Generals Gjurchinovski and Cavoli, discussed the cooperation with the U.S. European Command emphasizing that with the continuous cooperation we improve our interoperability, develop capabilities and act effectively, with full capacity in joint operations.
At the same time, the importance of bilateral and mutual cooperation within all NATO activities in order to deal with security challenge and all forms of aggressive actions was also discussed, especially in the current turbulent events caused by the aggression against sovereign Ukraine.
General Cavoli was informed by General Gjurchinovski about the current processes and activities in the Army, the experiences gained from the joint trainings, exercises and the upcoming A5 initiative Chiefs of Defence Conference that starts today.
At the joint meeting with Minister Petrovska, they discussed the security situation in Europe, the contribution of the United States and North Macedonia to strengthening the collective security of the Alliance, as well as the development of the cooperation between the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the U.S. European Command. At the same time, General Cavoli stressed that the cooperation between the U.S. European Command and the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia is at the highest level and that it will continue to develop in the future.
