Today, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, participated in the 28th US-Adriatic Charter Chiefs of Defense Conference which was held in Tirana, Republic of Albania.
At the conference, hosted by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lieutenant General Gojko Knezevik, the topic “A-5 for Stability and Cooperation: Building a Secure Environment through Civil-Military Synergy and Regional Dialogue” was discussed.
Within the framework of the conference, General Lafchiski emphasized the importance of the civil-military cooperation between the A-5 countries, especially in times of global challenges that require a joint response and coordination. The General emphasized that the regional cooperation is a key element for building stability, security and trust. Additionally, emphasis was placed on the strong cooperation of the Army with the civilian structures of our country, which is a significant example of the efficient use of all social capacities in dealing with the natural disasters that have happened in the country.
After the conference, a joint statement was signed, confirming the commitment to further strengthen the relations, as well as to expand the military cooperation in order to improve regional security.
As part of the program, General Lafchiski held bilateral meetings with some of the Chiefs of General Staffs from the A-5 member states, as well as with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander of the US European Command (EUCOM), General Alexus Grynkewich.
As observers, the conference was also attended by military representatives from the General Staffs of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the Kosovo Security Force, and the commanders of the National Guards of the US States, which are partners of the A-5 member states, were also present as guests.
