The Army Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, in an official visit to the Hungarian Armed Forces, had a meeting with his host, the Chief of Defence of Hungarian AF, General Gábor Böröndi in Budapest
Following the welcome with high military honors, Generals Lafchiski and Böröndi discussed bilateral military cooperation and possibility to further strengthen cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
During the official talks, discussions were held on possible cooperation between special operations forces, combat diving training, support for the light infantry battalion group as a primary NATO capability goal, conducting joint training and exercises, and utilizing the capacities of both armies to enhance the interoperability of the two allied armies within the framework of participation in international operations and missions led by NATO and the EU, as well as the exchange of experiences and lessons learned in the use of NATO and EU funds.
General Lafchiski used this opportunity to express gratitude for the Hungarian team’s support, which in the spirit of the alliance and friendship actively participated in extinguishing the wildfires which raged in our country during the summer.
At the meeting General Böröndi expressed his appreciation for inviting the Hungarian Armed Forces military orchestra to participate in the New Year’s concert, which is to be held the following month. He stated that if his agenda allows it, he will gladly attend the event.
Army delegation, led by Major General Lafchiski visited the Hungarian Armed Forces Mechanized Brigade at garrison Tata, where they were briefed on the brigade’s organizational structure, tasks and equipment. The delegation also had an opportunity to visit the Simulation and Training Centre.
