A delegation of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia, led by the Chief of GS of ARM Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, is visiting the Armed Forces of Slovakia and the Ministry of Defense of Slovakia as part of the official visits plan.
General Velichkovski was welcomed with military honors and afterwards he met his host, CGS of Slovakian Armed Forces General Milan Maxim and the Minister of Defense Peter Gajdosh.
At the meetings the Generals looked through possibilities to intensify military cooperation between the two countries by conducting mutually beneficial activities, including participating in military exercises and training courses at the military training areas of both armies.
The key personnel of GS of Slovakian Armed Forces presented the experiences which the Slovakian Armed Forces gained when they became a NATO member as well as while participating in peacekeeping missions led by UN, NATO and EU. On the other hand, lessons learned were shared by the ARM units when dealing with the European migrant crisis.
The ARM delegation had a chance to see the training capacities offered at the military training center in Lesht, as well as to visit Slovakian air force tactical wing command in Sliach.
Tomorrow, General Velichkovski will meet the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Security/Deputy Parliamentary Chairman Anton Hrnko and they will talk about contemporary security challenges.
This is the first time that a delegation of ARM, led by the Chief of GS of ARM, is visiting the Slovakian Armed Forces, after General Maxim’s last year visit of the Republic of Macedonia, when they discussed how ARM was dealing with the migrant wave.
