A delegation of the Macedonian Army (ARM), led by the Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Metodija Velickovski had an official visit of the KFOR command in Pristina.
During the visit, CHOD of ARM had a meeting with KFOR Commander Major General Giovanni Fungo, which is their first official meeting since General Fungo was appointed KFOR commander in September last year.
At the planned annual meeting in Pristina the security situation in the region was discussed, in particular the activities undertaken by ARM to deal with the migrant crisis, as well as joint activities of ARM and KFOR.
General Velichkovki emphasized the high level of cooperation ARM has had with KFOR in order to improve the overall security situation in the region, and the possibilities for its further expansion.
The current cooperation is reflected through the support that the Republic of Macedonia provides for KFOR to transit through our country, the use of ARM capacity for medical evacuation in case of need, but also through the assistance of KFOR engineering machinery during the floods in Skopje region last year, based on ARM needs.
Meetings between ARM and KFOR are planned and held annually through mutual visits of top leaders of the two military organizations, and they are of particular importance for the security in the region.
From June 2007 within the ARM Command for Logistics Support operates a coordination center to support the host country. Its main task is coordination with KFOR during customs and border transportation procedures, including other needs of KFOR in the area of logistic, with which ARM directly participates in the KFOR mission.
