A delegation of the armed forces of Slovakia, led by the Chief of the GS of Slovakia, General Milan Maxim, who is in an official two-day visit of the Republic of Macedonia and the ARM, today at the ARM General Staff, after being welcomed with high military honors, had a meeting and official talks with the ARM Chief of the GS Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski and with the key personnel of the ARM GS.
At the meeting and the official talks, where participation of Macedonia’s Army (ARM) in UN, NATO ant EU-led peace missions as well as possibilities for mutual military cooperation were subjects of discussion, the importance of this unprecedented meeting between the Chiefs of the GSs of both Armies was highlighted.
Among other things, accent was put on deepening and intensifying of the bilateral military cooperation through participation in joint military exercises, courses, as well as an offer to use the capacities of the both armies.
During his visit at the General Staff, besides meeting the Chief of the GS, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, General Maxim also held talks with Defense Minister Zoran Jolevski.
During the next day General Milan Maxim will be received by the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, and the delegation is to visit the Pilot Training Centre and the watchtower Bogorodica on the Macedonian-Greek border to get familiar with ARM activities for supporting police units in dealing with the challenges of the migrant crisis.
