At the site of the helicopter crash in Blace, Katlanovo, at “Strasho Pindzur” barracks and at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo, fresh flowers were laid, commemorating the eleven Army members of the Air Force WING, who tragically died in the helicopter crash sixteen years ago.
The family members and delegations from the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, led by Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski, the Operations Command, the Air Force WING, the 1st Infantry Brigade, the family members of the fallen members and the local self-government Petrovec, paid tribute to the fallen members at the memorial.
A previous tribute to the Army members with a minute of silence and wreaths of fresh flowers was paid at the memorial in front of the ABde command at “Strasho Pindzur” barracks in Petrovec, by delegations from the Air Force WING, Operations Command and the 1st Infantry Brigade.
The anniversary of the helicopter crash is traditionally marked at Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where our members were part of the ALTHEA mission.
Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Major Goran Ristovski, Captains Brane Spasovski and Igor Gjoreski, Sergeants Slavcho Vasilev and Toni Davitkovski, Staff Seargents Janko Shirikj, Aleksandar Taskovski, Sergeants Miki Ivanovski and Aleksandar Vasikj and Corporal Zlatko Veljanovski lost their lives when the Mi-17 helicopter crashed on 12 January 2008 near Blace in Katlanovo.
