The Operations Command (OC) marked the Day of the Unit with a military ceremony, in a dignified manner, in the barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski and the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Besnik Emini addressed the audience.
In his address, General Gjurchinovski, congratulated the day of the unit to the Operations Command members, and expressed an expectation that they will continue to perform their daily tasks as professionally as before, while stating his assurance that all the goals set for the upcoming period will be fully achieved.
In his address, the Commander of the Operations Command referred to the activities, but also the large number of successfully completed tasks during the past period, the results of which are also evident through the constant engagement in helping citizens and institutions whenever necessary.
“Our concept, structure and processes in the Army are being optimized in order to achieve maximum efficiency in the process of transformation and integration of forces in the structural and operational plans of NATO”, General Emini emphasized in his speech.
At the ceremony, incentive measures were awarded to members of the OC for the achieved results, the best unit of the Operations Command was declared, while the members of the command who retired during the year were awarded recognition for their work invested in the development of the Army.
The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense Bashkim Hasani, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, the Director of the General Staff, Major General Zoran Mileski, representatives from the President’s office, generals in the Army, former commanders of this command, representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and the South-Eastern Europe Brigade, military-diplomatic representatives and representatives from local governments and institutions with which this command cooperates.
The Operations Command is the bearer of the traditions commemorating the day when the headquarters of the Kresnensko Uprising was established, which is also the day when the uprising started, as one of the significant historical events on which the Army traditions are based.
As the highest command at operational level in the Army, the OC is most responsible for preparing its commands and units to perform the constitutional tasks of the Army, as well as participating in peace operations and contributing and assisting state institutions in crisis situations.
